Chat system Rocket.Chat
The University Computer Centre makes the open source chat software Rocket.Chat available to all members. Rocket.Chat can be used in a similar way to other chat services. Rocket.Chat is a chat platform through which individuals and teams can exchange messages. All data remains within the University of Leipzig.
Own cloud storage (Speicherwolke)
With the “Own cloud storage (Speicherwolke)” service, you have the option of storing files and documents centrally and synchronising them with different end devices. The files stored in the cloud storage can be shared with other people in a secure way and partly edited together. We currently use the cloud storage application “Speicherwolke” for this purpose.
Video conference with zoom
Zoom is a software package that enables video conferences - so-called meetings - to be held with up to 300 participants. In addition to private and public chat functions and the transmission of video and audio sources, Zoom offers the possibility of screen sharing, polls and virtual group rooms. This allows you to implement digital teaching and other online meetings (committees, working groups, etc.). All members of the University of Leipzig can log in with their Uni-Login, set up a video conference or take part in one as part of fulfilling the University's statutory duties.
Video conferencing with Skype for Business
The Skype for Business video conferencing system is a communication tool that combines chat, telephone and video conferencing with other functions. Synchronous, location-independent collaboration scenarios can be organised via Skype for Business.
Videoconference with BigBlueButton (Meet)
The web conferencing system of the University of Leipzig offers the possibility to hold ad-hoc audio and video conferences quickly and easily. The system has an integrated open and private chat, a shared whiteboard, an online survey tool and the possibility to share presentations, videos or your own screen.
VPN access to the university network
Various services and offers of Leipzig University can only be used if you are within the University's network. In order to access these services from home or on the road, you need a so-called VPN connection to connect to the university network from outside.You need a valid university login to dial into the university network via VPN. You can choose between simple dial-in via the web browser using web VPN or full access using the AnyConnect client.
