The Uni email is your most important means of communication within Leipzig University. Leipzig University students automatically receive an email account and the corresponding access data together with their university login when they enrol. This email address is used in particular for important information from the University.
Email box for employees
The University Computer Centre provides an email box (standard without Exchange including name.surname@uni-leipzig.de) for employees of Leipzig University.
Microsoft Exchange email box for employees
Employees of Leipzig University can use a mailbox based on Microsoft Exchange in addition to the standard email box. Exchange is a groupware system from Microsoft that combines email, tasks, calendars, address books and many other practical functions. The Exchange email box can be used both with the Outlook software for your desktop and via a web frontend.
Setting up mailing lists
The service can be used to set up and manage e-mail distribution lists (mailing lists) using the Mailman programme. This web-based software offers various options for the settings. The circular mail is sent from the usual e-mail programme to a special e-mail address, which is then distributed. These mailing lists are used to realise easy-to-use communication within a group of recipients. The open mailing lists offer all interested parties a communication platform for specific topics. The closed lists are mainly used to discuss application-specific issues.
