Determine the name of your computer

In some situations it is necessary to know the exact name of the computer you are working on. Here are step-by-step instructions for finding out the computer name.

How do I find out the computer name of my computer?

In Windows 10, type “computer” in the search box.

In the search results, right-click on “This PC” and select “Properties”.

In the “System” dialogue you can now see the computer name.

Alternatively, you can read out the computer name in the command line (cmd) with the command “hostname” (applies to all Windows versions).
