Digitisation of administration

”The university is the place of scientific encounter in the community of teachers and learners, it is the place of research and teaching.” The central administration provides support services to ensure efficient research and teaching. To optimise these processes, Leipzig University aims to achieve a high level of digitalisation.

Digitisation strategy

On the one hand, the Central Administration ensures university operations and, on the other, offers researchers and teachers a wide range of support processes. We support these processes through IT and software support as well as through participation in digitisation projects. In order to take into account the continuous improvement of processes at the University of Leipzig, we are available with our technology competences and realise the technology implementation and introduction of digitisation projects on behalf of the central administration.

Digitisation projects

In order to remain competitive in the future and to continuously improve the range of IT services, we are working with the Central Administration to implement a variety of digitisation projects that will later be integrated as IT services into the service portfolio of the University Computer Centre. Selected digitisation projects currently in progress are listed below:

Project Management: Office of Appeals

Project content: Evaluation of an IT system for applicant management in the context of appointment procedures.

Working task: Evaluation of IT systems, IT conception, commissioning of the software, connection of interfaces.

Project management: Appointment Management Unit

Project Content: Further development and modernisation of the appointment management system at the University of Leipzig.

Work task: Requirements management, IT conception and further development

Project Management: Department 1 Research and Transfer

Project Content: Introduction of an integrated IT system to manage the doctoral and post-doctoral life-cycle process.

Work task: IT conception

Project management: Staff Unit Quality Development in Administration

Project content: Renewal of the technological basis of the existing IT system ELVI.

Work task: Rights and role conception, IT conception, IT architecture.

Project management: Rectorate and Senate

Project Content: Introduction of a committee management system for the digitalisation of committee work.

Work task: IT conception, commissioning of the software

Project management: Staff Unit Quality Development in Administration

Project content: Database and application support of the IVMC security release.

Work Task: Application hosting, setting up remote desktop apps
