Service description
Software advice for students on R, SPSS, Excel and LaTeX
Would you like to use R or RStudio, SPSS, Excel and LaTeX for a student project, term paper or thesis, or are you already working with them and need help implementing them? In cooperation with the Academic Lab, we offer free consultations on these programmes from 1 April 2023.
Our service for you
The service offers Leipzig University students:
- individual counselling on questions and problems when working with R or RStudio, SPSS, Excel and LaTeX.
- help for self-help: Students are enabled to continue working on their projects independently after the counselling session.
- advice from students of higher semesters in a peer-to-peer setting
- a maximum of one consultation per project or term paper
up to three consultations per thesis (at least three weeks apart) - a counselling period of up to 30 minutes per counselling session
- the implementation in presence or digitally (BBB, Zoom)
- Counselling in German or English
To request advice on R or RStudio, Excel or LaTeX, please use our form in the service portal.
Advice on SPSS as well as individual advice on statistics and the application of quantitative methods is offered by the Academic Lab.
- Due to limited capacities, it is not possible to advise doctoral students, employees of the University of Leipzig or external interested persons.
Prerequisites
The use of the service requires compliance with the following regulations:
- For all services of the University Computer Centre, the IuK usage regulations of the University Computer Centre of the University of Leipzig apply in principle. Misuse of services of the University Computer Centre may lead to the termination of the usage permit and, if applicable, to criminal proceedings.
