Software: Microsoft 365 for employees
Through the state licence agreement for Microsoft products, the URZ offers all employees of Leipzig University's higher education sector the free, operational use of Microsoft 365.
Our service for you
The service offers users:
- the use of local Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise on up to 5 devices simultaneously (plus 5 smartphones and 5 tablets).
- the option of installing Microsoft Professional Plus on the primary university device.

REQUIREMENTS
The use of the service requires compliance with the following regulations:
- For all services of the University Computer Centre, the IuK usage regulations of the University Computer Centre of the University of Leipzig apply in principle. Misuse of services of the University Computer Centre may lead to the termination of the usage permit and, if applicable, to criminal proceedings.

Office Professional Plus 2021/Office 365 licensing information.
Main Devices.
Since 2021, the new licence agreement with Microsoft for the Office products has been in force. During the term of the licence agreement, employees of the University of Leipzig's higher education sector are able to use a version of Office Professional Plus for personal, sole use on their own workstation/main computer. New PCs with Office Professional Plus are set up via the local admins or the URZ.
Next-door devices
If there are other personal devices (second devices, other devices for mobile work, etc.) in addition to the main computer, it is possible to equip these devices with Office programmes in addition to the Office Professional Plus version. This is possible via the Office 365 Apps for Enterprise. There is a limit of 5 Office 365 licences per user (plus a maximum of 5 smartphones and 5 tablets). An application and consent form is required to use Office 365. This consent and use of Office 365 is voluntary. With the application, first and last name, university email address and university login are transferred to Microsoft. The application can be made via the IDM portal (idm.uni-leipzig.de). Installation can be carried out decentrally by the users/admins.
Free accessible (not personal) devices. In addition, on the basis of the licence agreement, it is possible to install Office Professional Plus software on public devices in all freely accessible rooms or libraries within the University of Leipzig. The installation is carried out by the local admins or the URZ.
Validity range
The State Licence Agreement does not apply to employees of the Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital AöR. Unfortunately, licensing is not possible for these groups of people.
Limitation
Currently it is not possible to use the Office Add-In Store or the Microsoft Webapps. Requirement for using the webapps is the activation of sharepoint for the user. Currently there is no approval by data protection authorities to activate sharepoint.
