As closed as necessary, as open as possible - data protection when handling research data: Handling personal data often presents researchers with legal challenges. In this event, you will gain insights into data protection aspects when handling your research data.
Our service for you
Under what conditions may personal data be processed? What requirements must be met and what strategies can be used to store, process, share and retain data securely? In this course, you will learn the basics for the secure handling of personal research data.
The course offers users:
- The basics of handling research data relevant to data protection, including drafting informed consent forms
- Options for anonymising research data

- Students, lecturers, researchers, doctoral candidates, employees and guests with a currently valid personal university login
- Guests and external users
- Faculties and institutions
- Co-operation partners of Leipzig University who are involved in the DFN or eduGAIN funding organisation
- Scientific institutions in Leipzig, Saxony and the Central German regions with a cooperation agreement
