Webspace for your own websites
The service Web space for your own websites enables you to publish information and content on the Internet for the purposes of research, teaching and studying on an infrastructure provided by the University Computer Centre. In addition to the publication of static HTML websites with images, videos and documents, the service also offers you the option of installing PHP-based software, possibly with a database connection, such as Typo3, WordPress or comparable.

The service offers users:
- Provision, operation and maintenance of the environment (LAMP - Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) by the URZ
- Configuration of the servers by the URZ
- Provision of 3 GB storage space
- Provision of SFTP and SSH access restricted to the file system of the website.
- PHP in a currently supported version
- 64 MB PHP memory limit
- monthly update of the server environment
- Maintenance and regular updates of the central software components (The persons responsible are responsible for ensuring the operability of the web presence after an update of the central software components).
- Daily backup of web space and, if applicable, databases (Daily file system and database backup.
- Use of one of the following subdomains for addressing the website, including provision of the associated SSL certificate: research.uni-leipzig.de

stud.uni-leipzig.de - weekly check of the web space for viruses and malicious code
Options
The Service offers the following optional ordering options to Users:
- Provision and setup of 1 up to max. 5 MySQL databases in the web space (Note: The database is only accessible from the web presence and can only be used in connection with it).
- Setting up a subdomain of .uni-leipzig.de (own-name.uni-leipzig.de) in accordance with the naming convention including provision of the associated SSL certificate
- Provision of additional storage space of 3 to 10 GB
- Adjustment of PHP system variables after consultation and depending on the server capacity, e.g. increase of PHP memory limit, max. size of file uploads. - The service is free of charge.
- Provision of additional storage space from 10 GB onwards. - The service is subject to a charge.
- In special cases, it is possible to offer services under a different domain. - The service is subject to a charge.
REQUIREMENTS
The use of the service requires compliance with the following regulations:
- For all services of the University Computer Centre, the IuK usage regulations of the University Computer Centre of the University of Leipzig apply in principle. Misuse of services of the University Computer Centre may lead to the termination of the usage permit and, if applicable, to criminal proceedings.

Delimitation
Please note the following limitations:
- The service does not offer a ready-made homepage construction kit. The installation and administration of a suitable content management system is the responsibility of the website operator.
- Only PHP in a current and officially supported version is supported as a scripting language.
- The service may not be used for file sharing or the storage and exchange of files that are not useful for the website.
- No installation, programming or administration of the software used in the web space by the URZ.
