To protect against viruses, the University Computer Centre offers all members of the University of Leipzig the opportunity to protect their end devices with anti-virus software. Members of the UL can use the Sophos Anti-Virus security software from Sophos.

Software download

First download the current installation package for the corresponding operating system. After downloading the relevant installation package, you only need to run the downloaded program to install Sophos Anti-Virus. After this, you will have the best possible virus protection, which regularly connects to our update server and downloads the latest protection files.

  • Caution!

    The first installation of the Sophos Anti-Virus software is generally only possible from the IP address space of the University of Leipzig; i.e. the computer is located within the university or is connected to the university network via VPN. After successful installation, the computer must be restarted!

By double-clicking on the file, following the wizard, Sophos will be installed.

This software may only be installed on equipment belonging to the University of Leipzig.

Troubleshooting

Currently there are some update errors due to a corrupt manifest file. Please download and run the following installation package.

SophosClearCache.exe

After that the update should work again.

Experienced users can also simply delete the contents of the folder "%ProgramData%\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Cache".
