Leipzig University has been connected to the OpARA research data archive of Saxon universities since mid-April. The connection was established in a collaboration between URZ and ZIH (TU Dresden).

Simplified options for professional research data archiving through OpARA as a central institutional archiving tool

The statutes on good scientific practice have been recommending it for some time and many third-party funded institutions want it for new projects - professional long-term archiving of the research data used in projects for at least 10 years. In order to meet this requirement from the organisation and the wishes of the scientific community, Leipzig University has decided to offer its researchers an institutional research data repository. The URZ was commissioned to examine and subsequently implement a connection to the existing repository of the TU Dresden and TU BA Freiberg. After the necessary organisational preparations in the identity management system of Leipzig University, the technical connection to the Dresden infrastructure and extensive tests on the Leipzig side, the service has been available to all members of Leipzig University since mid-April 2022.
